USERS:
Finding Alex Users
Setting Your
User Preferences
After clicking the USERS tab, select list users from the mode box.
All the Alex users associated with groups with which you are registered display alphabetically by their user names on this screen. Alex users who are not members of your groups will not display. You can view system users by user name or by group affiliations by clicking the appropriate phrase: show list by name or show list by group.
Clicking any group name listed in the column Groups will bring you to the list of e-mail messages associated with the selected group. Click on a user name to return the user info screen for the selected user.
The user info display provides a brief summary of the selected user, including his or her real name, business and organizational affiliations, authcodes, and the names of groups that the selected user and you have in common. If the selected user is a member of a group to which you are not subscribed, that group affiliation will not appear.
Click on any group name in the display to access that groups mail archive.
Click on the phrase (write user name an e-mail) to access the target users e-mail address.
Click the USERS tab and select your user preferences from the mode box.
This screen reflects current information about you and, with the exception of your Alex username, can be edited. You may also change your Alex password by clicking either of the buttons associated with the two change options: assign new random password or change to:. If you choose your own password, it must contain a minimum of six characters. You must confirm your new password by typing it again. The actual password characters
you enter are not echoed on the screen.
Your current group associations and authcodes are also displayed on this screen.
Changes to the user preferences screen become effective after you click the save button. You may, of course, also choose to abort any changes you initiated.
